Critics Consensus

How do you fight an idea? By filming a remake that has too few of its own, and tries to cover it up with choppy editing and CGI.

Audience Member Best Ben Hur out there go watch it!!! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/12/24 Full Review Caleb M I really enjoyed it, not sure why it had such bad reviews Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/29/24 Full Review Georgan G I hated the animal cruelty in the 1959 version, but this entire film is poorly done. Terribly script with filming that is boring. The sound is so uneven I could not hear dialogue, then blasted with music or yelling. Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/10/24 Full Review Claudiu I The narrator is very annoying, telling obvious things at the end and stupid things at the beginning. Not very believable story and some scenes are exaggerated. The relation of Ben Hur with his wife is absurd in few scenes. Rated 2.5/5 Stars • Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/12/23 Full Review Brianna B This movie is an absolute joke Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/17/23 Full Review Christine K Having never watched the original, this is now an all time favourite movie of mine. The story is just so good and touching and makes you want to forgive others. I feel so touched. Sure there are historical inaccuracies but we give them artistic license.
